This piece wouldn’t have existed if a friend of mine hadn’t contacted me for a commission of her friend with their Zubat. She asked for something specific, but I sketched this up just in case because the picture came to mind and I wanted to see if she liked it. Unfortunately, she passed on the idea, but I got this adorable piece instead. Zubat is not normally my first Pokemon choice, but this actually helped me grow to love them a little more.

Instead of wasting the concept, I inserted myself. This became the first of several pieces that include self-portraits that I’ve made since 2020.
